Victoria E. Olayinka

Victoria E. Olayinka is a proud wife and mother to her cherished daughter, Morenike, who became an angel at just 20 months old. As a professor and critical gerontologist, Victoria has dedicated her career to studying aging, human development, and health policy. But nothing could have prepared her for the profound journey of grief after losing her beloved Morenike.

In the depths of heartbreak, Victoria turned to writing as a way to honour Morenike’s memory and to find healing. Her first children’s book, Someone to Cherish, became a heartfelt tribute—a story designed to comfort families experiencing loss and to offer them understanding and companionship on their healing journeys.

Inspired to continue sharing stories of love and connection, Victoria also wrote Little Bear, Little Bear I Love You, a tender reflection on the unbreakable bond between parent and child. Through gentle words and meaningful storytelling, she hopes to bring light to families navigating grief, reminding them that love never fades and that the memories of those we cherish live on in our hearts.

Victoria’s deepest wish is for her stories to offer comfort, hope, and healing to children and families. In loving memory of Morenike, 30% of proceeds from her books are donated to the ReYu Recovery Centre and the Stollery Children’s Hospital to support children and families in need.

Through every page she writes, Victoria carries Morenike’s light forward—offering warmth, comfort, and the reminder that even in sorrow, love endures.
